About the project. What is it? A platform where you can list books to exchange them for other books or simply give them away to other users. A user can find a needed book, add it to favorites, and contact its owner. When listing a book on the platform, the user chooses whether it will be a book exchange or just a giveaway. If they chose an exchange, they can specify which book they want to trade for. To find a specific book, you can use the search. If the user isn’t looking for anything specific, they can view recommended books on the home page or use a genre filter. And you can always choose a city where books will be displayed. There is a chat to interact with the book’s owner. And to avoid losing an interesting listing, you can add it to favorites. On the platform, besides books, you can list all kinds of printed media: magazines, comics, textbooks, etc. What problems does it solve? 1. Economic problem: The user doesn’t need to spend money to purchase a book; they can get it from someone else for free. 2. Space problem: If a person is moving or has many books they don’t need that just take up space, they can give them away on ShareBook. 3. Environmental problem: Every book bought in a store is replaced by a new one, and producing a new book involves paper production, printing, and delivery, which emit a lot of CO₂. Also, on average, each book requires about 10 kg of wood. ShareBook gives books a second life, so no trees or production processes are needed for a user to read a book.
